Pleasantly Surprised with New Fan Club

I was very skeptical about the new fan club. When I went through the MB20 switch from Fan Asylum I was very disappointed with the new fan clubs.... Lost years of seniority ect...

I was pessimistic going into this M5 switch. I have to admit, everything went very well for me. My seniority was a factor as with Legacy status we had first crack at the best seats.
I scored fourth row at Camden without any problem at all.

I know that some of you had problems, but I found the new system to be fair and easy.
As long as us long time members maintain Legacy status then I think the new fan club will work out just fine. The legacy status ensures the long time fans get the best seats.

Spit away, San; and I always told my kids they weren't allowed to spit unless they were: (1) brushing their teeth; (2) at the dentist; (3) shining shoes or (4) on the ball field.

Yes, we've been through hell and back with changes on these boards together (coming on 6 years now) and managed to survive them all to this point. I was so looking forward to the possibility of meeting up with you, and still have my fingers crossed for that. E-mail me when the tour they will do after the CD drops is announced (hopefully with more forewarning); maybe we can work it out and I will get the tickets for both of us.

But REALLY, there should be NO reason for overseas fans to miss out on any of these things. I think Live Nation really got handed a hot potato here and had no concept of what this bunch of loyal M5 fans is truly like. We ARE a community who are mostly here to support the band. Community being the key word here.

P.S. I'm curious if this thread is still here because of the title...

Mama I would love to meet up for a gig but not gonna happen this year. Apart from the fact I have no holidays left until May 2011 since I've had to use them all for current commitments, I am going to be living on bread and water until Christmas from the expense :-) Who knew my mum's 80th birthday celebration week was going to be so expensive...but she's worth it! And it'll be the first time in over 30 years she'll have all her "children" in the same place at the same time, but she doesn't know that yet SURPRISE LOL

Well, I've dropped yet another e-mail to Live Nation as still not heard from them. Hey it's not that long 'til I get my retirment pension. Maybe I'll be able to get tickets by then....

Absolutely fuming SIN member

Sorry, no pleasant surprise at all as far as I am concerned.

I am still waiting any kind of e-mail correspondence on any subject related to revamped SIN fanclub / site. Not a whisper.

Sorry, I lied, I got the e-mail saying tix were going on sale less than 24 hours before the event. Well obviously, my own stupid fault if I don't check my e-mail at least twice a day UK time and LA-LA land time. Or maybe Apple's fault for my not being able to sync my main e-mail address on my iPhone 'cos they don't like Orange for some reason.

I have sent several e-mails to a) an e-mail address put up on the deleted thread where someone had managed to sort out their issues and b) to the e-mail address being touted by the revamped SIN fanclub. Having read several boarder's saying they had to provide proof of purchase I was, luckily!, able to attach a copy of a credit card statement from November last year showing membership debit. That was pure luck as I bank online and don't get hard copy statements...and my provider only has statements attached to my account for a finite period.

All I have received so far is a deafening silence. Which begs the question, as I refuse to incur ridiculous expense in having to telephone the other side of the World (which would probably cost me more than my yearly membership fee!), not to mention time zone differences....are members outside of the USA being de-prioritised because Live Nation think they are not going to get big bucks from bookings from overseas fans so we can be left to the end of the queue of disgruntled fans?

I signed up for membership late 2004 and just missed a tour of the UK so too late for benefits. But signed up as an eternal optimist thinking it would pay off later.

Had a fantastic pre-IWBSBL release gig in London May 2007, and highly enjoyable tour late 2007. Brighton December 2007 rocked!! And I was extremely thankful for SIN membership for those shows as I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We tend to be general entry not seated for gigs best view so it was literally front and centre hanging over the barrier at the front of the stage. Sound checks were a great opportunity to mingle.

I had seriously planned to fly to the States this year for a gig. I'm curious to see if there's a different feel, atmosphere to gigs I've gone to in the UK and I'd love to meet up with some of my Stateside M5 friends. More pressing commitments have superceded that intention and I wouldn't have been able to get over there anytime between June and September anyway. Which is fine, on the surface not a huge deal. In reality, I have been actively prevented from exercising my right to purchase pre-sale tickets as I cannot access the site.

To me, being a non-legal brain, surely that constitutes a breach of contract? I've paid for a service which has not been forthcoming.

LAWMOM2004 you've got the legal brain, am I right in thinking this way? Not that I'd do anything other than continue to rail against the powers that be LOL

SIN used to stand for something. M5 have an army of dedicated fans who wait, sometimes impatiently, for the jackpot of new material and live tours. But SIN used to at least drop little tidbits to keep us going and make us feel as if we were a part of the M5 family. Although again, oversees fans were often barred from competitions etc. WE didn't have to tell THEM that we were members, or provide evidence to prove it.

I feel like I'm now the mad aunt locked in the attic who's only spoken about in hushed whispers. OK, so I'm going a bit drama queen now but I really am feeling so pissed off at the moment I could spit if it weren't such a disugusting thing to do :-)

On the last tour, for three different shows, I paid around $260 for 2 tickets that included just soundcheck or soundcheck, meet the band, and a picture with the band and had tickets in the first, second and third rows-center! I always knew that through my SIN membership, we would always sit at least in the first 5 rows. I never had to stress over making sure I was online right at 10am, to vie for the handful of seats released in the best sections, along with many other fan club members. I always knew that as members, we all would be taken care of by SIN and get amazing seats. That was what made being a member so awesome!! The excitement of the upcoming tour has been sort of overshadowed by the fact that not only will I probably not have the usual great seats but I also will not be going to the soundcheck or meet and greet. Maroon 5 is a family thing here so when we are buying tickets, we have to look at it times 3 and sometimes 4! I really wish that SIN members would have been offered a VIP package that included a ticket in the first 5 rows plus the meet and greet for $100 or so.(The difference in the price of the 2 VIP packages) And that package NOT be made available to the general public though. That would have been a nice perk to being a SIN member. I personally go to the shows for the experience and fun...I don't really care about a t-shirt or tote bag! I guess what it all comes down to is that I am paying for a presale code. Even the website is not really member exclusive anymore...the videos etc are quickly released to the public. I think what I am trying to say is that for so many years, Maroon 5, has been a band that really took care of their LOYAL FANS and I hope that all 5 of them know HOW MUCH WE LOYAL SIN MEMBERS HAVE APPRECIATED IT; but it seems like that is changing and it's sad.

So now we sit and contemplate our options for this long awaited tour by our FAVORITE BAND....at least we have longer than 24 hours to figure it out! LOL!!

I second EVERYTHING you said! SIN was fantastic when it came to shows, soundchecks, access, etc. Who gives a flying you know what about a tote bag? I wouldn't carry it, personally.

It is not pointless. The tickets were on sale for 4 days for Fanclub members. Tuesday to Friday. Public onsale starts on Saturday. Legacy members had first access on tuesday from 10am- 3pm. After that all other Fanclub members had access. You can not buy tickets yet without being a fan club member. You can join and buy tickets at the same time which you could also do with Fan Asylum. The window for legacy members was small buy it still gave the long time members an advantage.

The tickets were on sale for 2 days at most for fan club with 1 day advance notice. It says public on sale is Sat, but like I said tickets went on sale for EVERYONE a few days ago(code or not). That is how I was able to see what regular seats I would be able to have. They have now changed it for some shows, and some require a code, but for a day anyone could get tickets. Having tickets for sale for any number of days with 1 day notice is completely pointless. I have no money now, and with the old fan club I would still be able to get good seats weeks before the show. Now that all the seats are available to the public it doesn't matter whether I'm a legacy member, new member, or not a member at all.

I've kept my membership active for 7 years; never won a contest, and never had any soundcheck experience etc., because the NYC shows were usually travel packages and the 1 club show sold out too fast. I was hoping that one day I would be able to actually benefit from the fan club, but now there are no more benefits.

Re: Pleasantly Surprised with New Fan Club

I hope the new organizers have to at least understand the frustration that comes from the fans, there are too many issues with the whole thing to dismiss it.

I think the problem with the switch is that it seemed a bit unorganized and confusing. There was no pre-warning about the type of changes that would take place (we were only told that things were happening and not exactly what was happening) and there no instruction on how the new system worked and how to use it hence the confusion on the day tickets went on sale. How were people who were non-legacy members supposed to know that they were not allowed to buy on day 1? Were they even told that they were bumped back for being late on a renewal? This was never an issue before. (These are legit questions.) These things were not explained.

There was only about a day notice (which isnt enough time for people to get funds especially in this economy for shows.)

In the old system, the shortest time for notification about upcoming ticket sales I remember was about a week and a half. This time around it was about only 24 hours for the first crop of shows. In the old system people always had hope of getting at least a shot at front row, no matter where the show was located (new or old members) . in the Ticketmaster/Live Nation system, those odds diminish greatly due to those seats being rationed off to third party sites that tend to charge in some cases a thousand dollars a pop especially in big venue cities like NY, CT, LA, etc. If you are lucky in the smaller venues, 2nd row would be a hoot at this point.

I am also a Legacy member and had no problems but still I think it is totally fair for people to speak out about how a change like this was fumbled, especially those who have been around for years and could not get a ticket or even log in on day one. It was too big for it not be some type of a better organized system for paying people to be informed properly.

The one thing that we could ask is that they do a better job informing everyone of what is going on and how things are done. Confusion is 75% of the problems here.

Re: Pleasantly Surprised with New Fan Club

I didn't have any problems at all with the new fan club (yet). I think good seats were still available hours after they went on sale was because many people still couldn't log on. I was very lucky with not having any issues because I have such bad luck that normally I am the only one having issues.

Although I didn't have any issues with the new setup, I still miss the old one where I didn't have to pay an extra 15 dollars for "ticket fees". I've never really been a fan of Ticketmaster or Live Nation to begin with.

Re: Pleasantly Surprised with New Fan Club

Okay, jamie, just asking here; How much are they paying you for this promo? LOL After all SOMEBODY deleted the thread where we were bitching about the problems being encountered.

I don't know that my having been a member since October of 2004 makes any difference compared to the new member from January, 2010. Yes, I did have legacy status, but I don't think my seniority counts for anything.I'm not complaining here, I got my M & G tickets with no problem.

It'll be interesting to see if these comments stay alive.

Hey, I thought we were friends? You show up on my friends list, but I'm not on yours, did you block me or something? I don't understand how all this stuff works...

I was considering doing Camden, it would be cool to meet you - not a package, though. If I change my mind, I will let you know.

Re: Pleasantly Surprised with New Fan Club

For the record... I purchased 4 tickets in row 4 at 10am. I went back in at 2:30 and could still get row 4. Almost 5 hours later legacy members could still get quality seats.

I am a huge fan of Fan Asylum but the Fan Asylum pre-sales were not necessarily open for weeks. For example, as Matchbox 20 became bigger the pre-sales would sell out within an hour. The pre-sale was open until the ticket hold sold out, which became shorter and shorter as time went on.

As long as the new fan club keeps the Legacy Member Status and allows Legacy members first access, I think the new Fan Club is fair.

I feel badly for anyone that had login issues ect.. However, once those issues are worked out I think most will find the new system to be fair.

Re: Pleasantly Surprised with New Fan Club

The fan club before was better. It offered more than just m&g. Tickets were held until a few weeks before shows, instead of for one day.
I checked to see what seats I could get with the fan club. If I chose the m&g I would be second row center at Camden. When tickets were released to the public I checked again, and got pretty much the same result.
The new fan club is pointless
