I sincerely hope that both Ryan and the M5 guys move forward positively. It sounds like from the article that Ryan is every bit the class-act I thought he was.
They must have.... since Ryan is still going to M5 concerts and attending M5 parties.... I think when you read the article for yourself you'll find it less of "bombshell" than it may appear from this thread...
Anyone with a realistic sense of Maroon 5 (and YOU definitely seem to have your head on straight) will not be surprised by anything in the Rolling Stone article.
It was more of the same... just in Rolling Stone! ---------- Any reviewer who expresses rage and loathing for a [post on a Maroon 5 message board] is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.

Well we are big rock singers, we've got golden fingers And we're loved everywhere we go We sing about beauty and we sing about truth At ten thousand dollars a show We take all kind of pills to give us all kind of thrills But the thrill we've never known Is the thrill that'll get you when you get your picture On the cover of the Rolling Stone

maroon5live Joined: 8/25/2004 Posts: 5 Location: US | Rolling StoneSo, Ryan and M5's parting ways was less than amicable. Wow, that was a bombshell for me. I haven't been following the guys as closely as in years past(2002-2004), so I am actually quite stunned to learn this.
I don't have the Rolling Stone issue with the guys on the cover, but I will definitely make a point to pick it up soon.
You know, for whatever reason, I always favored Ryan's 'vibe' based on interviews and his posts on the message board that I recall from those early days. I'm also biased because Ryan went to UCLA and I'm an alum of the school. I'm not surprised to learn that the parting was less than amicable given that this is the music "business", but somehow I believed the press stories at the time.
Also, I'm really nostalgic for the 'ideal' that childhood friends could grow up and realize their wildest dreams together, which was part of the appeal of the M5 story.
I'm not surprised one bit by their success, but I miss the old days when I could walk up to the HOB Sunset and purchase $12 tickets to see M5 headline for three straight nights.
I'm really torn because it appears the group made a business decision to move forward, but it sounds like a lifelong friendship may have suffered in the process, which is really sad to hear.
I really loved the energy Ryan brought to the group with his singing and his drumming. This is no slight to Matt, who is a talented guy with his own style and flavor. I sincerely hope that both Ryan and the M5 guys move forward positively. It sounds like from the article that Ryan is every bit the class-act I thought he was.
All the best to Ryan (and Go Bruins!!)

Y'know, I think that articles like this (that focus on Adam) are the reasons SIN gives us a lot of messages/blogs/whatever from the other guys and not many from Adam. I think it's the band's way of keeping balance (for paying fans at least) because they know that between Adam's personality and his place in the band, he's bound to get the most attention (and he likes it).
None of them are crazy about doing chats with the exception of James and Jesse. The last chat with Adam which was a few years ago, wasn't even Adam. One of the other guys pretended to be Adam because he didn't want to do it. It was pretty obvious too because a die-hard Adam fan asked a question, she new the answer but the person posing as Adam . . . WRONG ANSWER! You lose! You get nothing! Good day, sir! I remember that because I was watching it take place. ALmost soiled myself too! ---------- "It's NOT sarcoidosis, tubular sclerosis or auto immune and it's NOT lupus!" ~ Dr. Greg House
